Tokyo stocks were largely flat Tuesday morning with investors lacking definitive cues ahead of the New Year following overnight losses on Wall Street and a drop in oil prices.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 0.08 point from Monday to end the morning at 18,873.27, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 2.84 points, or 0.19 percent, to 1,532.06. Endit
