Xinhua, December 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

The newly constructed building of Afghanistan's defense ministry opened here on Monday.

The building was constructed at a cost of 200 million U.S. dollars and was financed largely by the United States.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said opening of the new building of the defense ministry was a stride toward professionalizing the Afghan national army.

The Afghan president also expressed gratitude to the United States and all those countries which have contributed troops to the NATO-led (RS) mission in Afghanistan, and which have backed Afghan stabilization and the reconstruction process.

On the same occasion, Afghan acting minister of defense Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai described terrorism as a common enemy, noting that overcoming the terror menace requires regional and global cooperation. Endit
