German manufacturers plan to invest 6 pct more in 2016: survey

Xinhua, December 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

German manufacturers plan to increase their investment by six percent in 2016, preliminary results from a manufacturing survey by Ifo Institute showed here on Monday.

The economic research institute reported that growth next year would mainly be driven by large firms, as small firms intended to reduce their expenditure on new buildings and equipment in 2016.

According to Ifo, the increase would mark a significant upturn, as the sector only increased its investment by four percent in 2015.

In fact, company reports released in the spring of this year indicated that a growth of seven percent was expected for 2015. But small firms revised their investment plans downward over the course of the year.

Ifo conducted the preliminary results for the European Union. Two thirds of the targeted 2,300 responses from companies were calculated. The final results of the survey are scheduled to be released at the beginning of 2016 by the Munich-based think tank. Endit
