CBA Roundup: Beijing wins ninth straight, Guangsha suffers another rout

Defending champion Beijing recorded their ninth straight victory by crushing over Jilin 128-106 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday.
Guangsha, who was positioned in top place four days ago, suffered another humiliating loss. They lost to Sichuan 135-98, two days after losing to Beijing with a 30-point deficit.
Beijing swept Jilin in the first round of playoffs last season. The defending champ showed off their depth and had a lopsided win once again on Sunday.
"We stay focused throughtout the game. Hoping that we can get better and better in upcoming games," said Min Lulei, head coach of Beijing.
All 12 Beijing players contributed to the scoring account. Randolph Morris had a team-high 23 points. Zhang Qingpeng made all four attempts from 3-point range to add 18.
Beijing built a 7-4 lead on Stephon Marbury's layup and Sun Yue's three-pointer, before Jilin's Josh Akognon made two consecutive shots beyond the arc. Beijing's 10 assists in the opening quarter earned them a 36-30 lead.
Jilin once cut the deficit to three points early in the second period, before the hosts took on a strong run to extend the margin to 20-plus points. Beijing had a record 76 points in the first half, and kept thair advantage until the game time expired.
Witnessing another comfortable win, fans in the Mastercard Center sang a birthday song joyously for Marbury's mom.
Peter Ramos had a game-high 29 points and 17 rebounds for Jilin. Akognon scored 19 points, Liu Tianyi and Li An had 15 apiece.
Sichuan took on a dominating 50-17 second quarter to set the winning tone against Guangsha, the second most of a team's score in a quarter in CBA history, just one shy of the record set by Beijing in 2004-2005. Guangsha never got closer than 27 points in the second half.
Sichuan's foreign trio, Mike Harris, Justin Dentmon and Hamed Haddadi, combined for 95 points. Jeremy Pargo led Guangsha with 31 points, while another foreign player Eli Holman only had nine.
Xinjiang maintianed their top position by easing past Zhejiang 112-89, while Guangdong suffered their third straight skid after losing to Qingdao 118-107.
In other matches, Foshan lost to Liaoning 117-102, Fujian thrashed Bayi 111-87, Jiangsu lost to Aolong 108-91, Shanghai crushed over Shanxi 107-85, Tianjin lost to Shandong 113-112, and Tongxi beat Shenzhen 113-91. Endi
