Iran's national futsal team will play friendlies against Tajikistan and Thailand as a part of preparations for the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship in Uzbekistan early next year, Iran's Press TV reported on Sunday.
Two delegates from the futsal committee of Iran's Football Federation are about to leave for Dushanbe of Tajikistan to assess the sports facilities there and complete the necessary arrangements for two friendly matches against Tajikistan's national futsal team, head coach of the Iranian outfit Mohammad Nazim al-Sharia was quoted as saying on Sunday.
Nazim al-Sharia said that the Iranian officials are considering to hold training camp abroad and view Tajikistan as a suitable venue given that its climate is relatively close to that of Uzbekistan.
Iran is more likely to play another friendly with Thailand, he said without elaboration on the dates of the friendlies.
The 2016 AFC Futsal Championship will be the 14th edition of the Asian contests. It will be staged in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, between February 10 and 21.
Iran has been drawn alongside China, Iraq and Jordan in Group B of the forthcoming sports event. Endi
