India to unveil start-ups blueprint in January

Xinhua, December 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

India will unveil a blueprint for start-ups in the country on Jan. 16 in a bid to tap bright young minds, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sunday.

"On the 15th of Aug, from the Red Fort, I talked about India becoming a start-up destination. On Jan. 16, we are coming out with an action plan on start-ups," Modi said in his monthly radio address to the nation.

He added: "The 'Start-up India, Stand-up India' program will connect bright minds from information technology in all colleges through live connectivity. Youth all over India have the talent and the capability to propel India's growth."

The Indian prime minister has time and again stressed the importance of entrepreneurship and the resulting job creation in getting the nation to move forward.

Several start-up companies have come up in recent times, with a large number of them having their offices in Gurgaon, some 30 km from the national capital. These start-ups are spread across several fields like food, IT and cab aggregator service. Enditem
