Messi leads Marca's top 10 players of 2015, Ronaldo ranked 8th

Xinhua, December 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Spanish paper Marca has released a top 10 players of 2015 list on Friday with Leo Messi being placed first and Cristiano Ronaldo 8th.

Rather than picking the players themselves, Marca left the ordering up to reader's votes.

2015 was undeniably the year of FC Barcelona. Luis Enrique's side finish the year as the best club team on the planet.

That accolade was locked up by five trophies - the Copa del Rey, European SuperCup, La Liga, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

While Barca's achievements were incredible, they seem to have skewed the results of Marca's top 10 players of 2015 list.

According to the results, for example, Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is eighth, while Barcelona' s generally understated midfielder Sergio Busquets is sixth.

There were only two non-Spanish players picked in the top 10, while Barcelona had six players in the list.

The full Marca top 10 is as follows:

1. Leo Messi (Barcelona)

2. Neymar (Barcelona)

3. Luis Suarez (Barcelona)

4. Anders Iniesta (Barcelona)

5. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

6. Sergio Busquets (Barcelona)

7. Claudio Bravo (Barcelona)

8. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

9. Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)

10. Paul Pogba (Juventus)
