CBA Roundup: Liaoning beats Guangdong 103-86, Beijing extends winning streak

Last seasons runner-up Liaoning claimed an easy victory over Guangdong 103-86 in the 22nd round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Friday, while defending champion Beijing extended their winning streak to eight matches after thrashing Guangsha 134-104.

   Guangdong shot out to a quick 5-point lead then last seasons runner-up Liaoning fought back with a 9-0 run and finished the first quarter by leading at 24-17. Liaoning kept their lead from the second quarter to end and enlarged their lead to as many as 27 in the fourth quarter. 

   Five Liaoning players scored double-digit points, led by Lester Hudson's 23. Guo Ailun, who suffered a bad cut on the face after being hit by a water bottle hurled from spectators' stands in the 19th round, got 14 points. Guangdong's Zhou Peng had a game-high 25 points, Yi Jianlian contributed 22 points and 12 rebounds. 

   Six players scored double-digit points to help defending champion Beijing stop Guangsha's winning streak with a 134-104 victory at home to extend their winning streak to eight matches. 

   Beijing player Randolph Morris scored 34 points, Stephon Marbury collected 20 points, Zhai Xiaochuan contributed 22 points and 8 rebounds, Zhang Qingpeng added 21 points and 9 assists. Guangsha player Eli Holman finished with a game-high 36 points and 16 rebounds, Lin Zhijie had 24 points.

   In Friday's other matches, Jiangsu defeated Bayi 99-80, Beikong overwhelmed Qingdao 113-104, Zhejiang downed Shanxi 119-116, Sichuan crashed Shenzhen 109-100, Foshan lost to Shandong 114-124, Fujian defeated Tianjin 101-97, Jilin upset Tongxi 109-106, Xinjiang beat Shanghai 113-81. Endi
