China aims to lift over 10 million rural people out of poverty in 2016, so as to make a good start for the next five years, according to a poverty relief meeting on Thursday.
The next year's work will integrate the central and local efforts to tackle poverty more accurately, said Liu Yongfu, director of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development.
This marks the country's third plan to cut poor population by over 10 million people annually since 2014.
China has vowed to lift all of its poor out of poverty by 2020.
Liu forecast 2015's goal will be achieved as all-level financial support have been enhanced to help poor people increase income.
China has lifted around 100 million rural people of poverty so far since 2010, leaving 60 million more to help by the end of 2020, Liu added.
