Man charged with terror offences in Britain

A man who was arrested by police officers on Tuesday in south London has been charged with terror offences, local police confirmed Thursday.

Mohammed Alam, 31, of Croydon appeared in court and was charged on Thursday under the Britain's Terrorism Act 2006 with distributing or circulating a terrorist publication, Metropolitan Police said.

"He appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates' court this morning where he was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on January 8," police said.

Alam was arrested by officers of a counter terrorism branch from Metropolitan Police at a business address in south London at 5:03 p.m. On Tuesday. Endit
