Singapore stocks close 0.49 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 13.97 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 2,877.62.

A total of 547.4 million shares changed hands with turnover of 377.7 million Singapore dollars (269.0 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 187 to 133, while 602 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 10.68 points, or 0.37 percent, to close at 2,863.65 on Wednesday. Endit
