China looks for continued anti-corruption cooperation with U.S.

Xinhua, December 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

China called for more pragmatic and flexible anti-corruption cooperation with the United States on Thursday.

"We hope the two sides will continue to give full play to the China-U.S. Joint Liaison Group (JLG) on Law Enforcement Cooperation as a main channel, and promote anti-corruption cooperation with a more pragmatic and flexible attitude," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei.

Hong said China appreciates the support and cooperation from the United States so far.

He made the remarks at a regular press briefing while commenting on a report that the two countries are in advanced talks on repatriating five of China's most wanted corruption suspects.

The two countries agreed to conduct a joint investigation on five cases involving job-related crimes in order to bring fugitives to justice and seize their illegal proceeds at the 12th meeting of the JLG in Beijing in December 2014.

"The two countries' law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies have strengthened cooperation since the meeting and made important progress on the five cases," Hong said. Endi
