Up to 16 Taliban militants were killed as aircrafts pounded Taliban hideouts in Dasht-e-Archi district of Afghan northern Kunduz province on Thursday, spokesman for provincial government Abdul Wasi Basil said.

"The aircrafts targeted Taliban hideouts in parts of Dasht-e-Archi district at 02:30 a.m. local time today leaving 16 rebels dead including two Taliban local commanders," Basil told Xinhua.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kunduz province have yet to make comment. Enditem
