British GDP growth revised down to 0.4 pct in Q3

British GDP increased by 0.4 percent in the third quarter of 2015, revised down 0.1 percentage points from the second estimate of the GDP released a month ago, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said on Wednesday.

Compared with the same quarter a year ago, British GDP increased by 2.1 percent, revised down from the previous estimate of 2.3 percent.

Three of the four main output industrial groupings showed increases in Q3 compared with Q2, with only construction output falling in the period.

Production output increased by 0.2 percent from the previous quarter, unrevised from the previously published estimate. When compared with the same period of 2014, this sector increased by 1.4 percent, revised up 0.2 percentage points from the preliminary estimate.

Construction output decreased by 1.9 percent, revised up 0.3 percentage points from the previously published estimate. The sector increased by 1.0 percent between the third quarter of 2014 and the same period of 2015, revised up 1.1 percentage points from the previously published estimate.

The service industries rose by 0.6 percent, revised down 0.1 percentage points from the previous estimate, marking the 11th consecutive quarter of positive growth. This sector increased by 2.4 percent compared to the same quarter of 2014.
