Three foreigners detained in Guangzhou drug crackdown

Xinhua, December 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Three foreign nationals were detained in south China for involvement in drug trafficking and sales, local police said Wednesday.

Police in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, busted a drug ring this month after more than three months of investigation. Six suspects, including three foreigners, have been detained, according to Guangzhou's drug control office.

In a joint operation with police from northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Guangzhou police confiscated 12.2 kg of heroin, a car and 63,000 U.S. dollars. A drug storage facility in Guangzhou was also destroyed.

The arrests will sever a channel for drugs to flow from border areas in west China to Guangzhou, according to the office. Endi
