China governance academies urged to follow correct political path

Xinhua, December 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

State Councilor Yang Jing has urged the country's governance academies, institutes for civil servants, to stick to the "correct political direction" and foster high-caliber talent.

"The governance academies should cultivate quality civil servants that can meet the governments' demands and satisfy the people," said Yang, who is also head of the Chinese Academy of Governance, at a two-day meeting of presidents of the country's governance academies that closed Wednesday.

The academies of governance specialize in supporting high-level civil servants and talent in administration and policy research while offering policy consultation to the central authorities.

Noting that equal focuses on teaching, research and consultation were of utmost importance, Yang urged the academies to help build state-level think tanks to offer high-quality consultation on development strategies. Endi
