Xinhua, December 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

The captain of the capsized boat carrying 118 people in eastern Indonesia was rescued on Tuesday, coordinator of rescue mission Andi Sultan said.

The captain named only Asdar was discovered at Palopo waters of South Sulawesi, said Sultan.

"His condition is good. But his neck was injured," Sultan told Xinhua by phone from South Sulawesi.

"Now, he is being treated at Siwa Hospital in South Sulawesi," he added.

With the rescue of the captain, more information about the cause of the incident is expected to be disclosed.

Three people have been confirmed dead and 74 others missing in a passenger boat carrying 118 people capsized off Sulawesi Island Saturday, while 41 people including the captain have been rescued, according to Sultan.

KM Marina Baru 02B, which was carrying 108 passengers and 10 crew members, was en route from Kolaka in Southeast Sulawesi to Siwa seaport in South Sulawesi.

Local rescuers said the boat was hit by storm at 15:10 local time Saturday (0810 GMT), said Zainul Tjahar, spokesman of the national search and rescue office. Endit
