Urgent: China, Iraq to establish strategic partnership

Xinhua, December 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

China and Iraq are going to establish a strategic partnership during the on-going visit by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to China.

While meeting with Abadi Tuesday afternoon, President Xi Jinping said China highly values its relations with Iraq, and views the country as a trustworthy and important partner of cooperation in the Middle East.

The two countries will issue a joint declaration to announce the establishment of a strategic partnership, Xi said in his opening remarks.

The president noted that the defining of the relationship shows two sides fully recognize the importance of their ties and will lay a solid foundation for future development.

Abadi is paying an official visit to China from Tuesday to Wednesday as the guest of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Endi
