Chinese investor donates food stuff to children's home in Kenya

Xinhua, December 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Chinese investor on Sunday donated foods stuff to the Huruma Children's home located in Ngong on the outskirts of Kenya's capital city Nairobi.

The Secretary General of the China Africa Economic Trade Investment Association Tai Sujun said the donation is part of the growing Sino-Kenya relations.

"Chinese investors in Kenya are very keen to support needy children in order to uplift the lives of the children," Tai said.

The donations included one dozen bale of maize flour as well as two live goats.

The Chinese entrepreneur has been donating to the Huruma Children Home for the past ten years as part of efforts to give back to the community.

Tai said she is also involved in a number of philanthropic activities in Kenya.

"The poor should be assisted, so that they can also benefit from economic success of the country," she said.

Huruma Children's Home Director Zipporah Kamau said Chinese entrepreneurs have been providing financial assistance for the running of the children home.

"The Chinese have played a big role in the ensuring that the orphans receive meals on a daily basis," Kamau said.

She said the children's home depends entirely on well wishers to feed the children.

The 26-year-old Huruma Children Home has over 250 orphans and also takes care of another 150 children from the nearby slums. Endit
