1st LD: Bus explosion near Damascus university leaves 9 wounded

Xinhua, December 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

An improvised rocket slammed a passenger bus near a university compound west of the capital Damascus on Sunday, leaving nine people wounded, state news agency SANA reported.

The rocket hit the bus on west al-Mazzeh highway near the faculty of medicine, SANA said. The wounded have been taken to nearby hospitals.

Other reports, however, said a bomb targeted a military bus near the medicine school and injured many soldiers.

The attack came just one day after Israeli air raid targeted and killed Samir Kuntar, a famous figure of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, in Damascus' eastern district of Jaramanah.

Sources said Israel had declared a high state of alert along the borders with Lebanon following Kuntar's death. Endit
