Kenya Airways says operations to normalize after terror scare on Air France plane

Kenya Airways said Sunday its operations which had been disrupted after Air France made an emergency landing at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa are gradually normalizing.

The slight disruptions follow an emergency landing by Air France flight with 459 passengers and 14 crew members from Mauritius to Paris that was diverted to Kenya after a suspected explosive device was found on it.

Kenya Airways said its flights shall be experiencing flight disruptions due to temporary closure of Moi International airport for investigators.

"The departure and arrival times of KQ625, KQ601, KQ603 and KQ 605 out of Mombasa, KQ600, KQ602, KQ604 out of Nairobi are affected as a result," the airline said in a statement issued in Nairobi.

"Subsequently international flights affected include KQ484/485 and KQKQ586. The airport has since been reopened, our operations are gradually normalizing," it added.

The Boeing 777 was heading to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris when its pilots requested an emergency landing at 12:37 a.m. in the coastal city of Mombasa.

Kenyan authorities have launched investigations to establish if the device which was found in one of the plane's lavatories was a bomb.

Kenyan security officers are interrogating a number of Air France Flight passengers after security officials retrieved an explosive device in the plane at Moi International Airport in Mombasa, Kenya.

The authorities said some passengers of the Air France including crew members are under interrogation following the discovery of a suspected explosive device in the plane. Endit
