The Indonesian authorities had located the capsized ship in Sulawesi waters which sank earlier on Saturday, a senior police officer said.

The ship was carrying 94 adults and 14 children and the fate of the passengers was unknown now. A rescue operation has been underway.

"The latest information is that a boat from the National Search and Rescue (SAR) agency has been sent from Bajoe to the location. Let's hope that the rescue operation can be conducted safely and successful," spokesperson for South and West Sulawesi province police chapter Commissioner Frans Barung Mangera said.
