1st LD: At least 2 killed, 10 others injured in Mogadishu blast

At least two civilians were killed and ten others wounded after car bomb exploded at a busy road in the center of Mogadishu on Saturday, police and witnesses said.

According to police officer Ahmed Ganey, the car bomb which exploded at Makka Al-Mukarrama road left five civilians and five Somali police officers including Waberi district police commissioner injured.

"So far we have confirmed that two civilians have been killed while ten others were injured in the car explosion in Mogadishu," Ganey told Xinhua.

Witnesses said many security officers arrived at the scene after the explosion and cordoned off the area.

"We saw troops and emergency services arriving at the scene after the explosion but they are preventing the people from approaching the scene," one of the Mogadishu residents, Ismail Abdi told Xinhua.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the latest attack in Mogadishu but Al-Shabaab fighters have in the past claimed responsibility for such blasts. Enditem
