British PM hails Libyan political agreement

British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday hailed the signing of the UN-mediated Libyan political agreement in Morocco.

"Today's outcome is an important step forward, paving the way for a new unified national government in Libya," Cameron said Thursday in a statement.

"The UK is firmly committed to securing a stable and prosperous future for Libya. We've led international efforts in support of the UN talks resulting in today's agreement," he added.

Cameron continued that this agreement means the international community can now engage with one unified, representative government in Libya in the fight against Daesh (also known as Islamic State) and the migrant traffickers.

"I look forward to working closely with Prime Minister Serraj as the new government works to bring peace and stability to all Libyans," Cameron said.

Libya's conflicting parties on Thursday signed a UN-brokered deal in the Moroccan city of Skhirat to end the country's political crises. Endit
