British FTSE 100 rises 0.68 pct on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday increased by 0.68 percent, or 41.35 points, to 6,102.54 points.

U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday decided to raise benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points, the first interest rate increase since 2006 and marking the end of an era of extraordinary easing monetary policy.

Share price of Standard Chartered increased by 7.26 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Inmarsat, Old Mutual, Hikma Pharmaceuticals and Capita increased by 4.15 percent, 4.12 percent, 3.21 percent and 3.15 percent respectively.

Anglo American led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.27 percent, followed by Berkeley Group Holdings (4.58 percent), Glencore (4.14 percent), Randgold Resources (3.47 percent) and Fresnillo (2.82 percent). Endit
