China has donated medical equipment worth about 2.5 million U.S. dollars to Cambodia's Preah Ketomealea Hospital, known as Military Hospital, here on Thursday, said the hospital's director.
The handover ceremony was held between Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh.
Ten types of medical equipment were donated to the hospital, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan), Catheterization Laboratory (Cath-Lab), and Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA), said Ly Sovann, the hospital's director.
"With these pieces of modern equipment, I believe that the reputation of the Preah Ketomealea Hospital will be better known," he said.
Tea Banh expressed heartfelt and profound gratitude to the government and people of China for their generous donation to Cambodia.
"These pieces of sophisticated medical equipment are very valuable and reflect China's attention to improve the health of Cambodian military personnel as well as common people," he said.
Ambassador Bu Jianguo said China always pays attention to the health of Cambodian people, particularly armed forces, and has assisted the hospital since 2001.
"I hope that the equipment will enhance the quality of treatment at the hospital and contribute to the development of Cambodia's military health sector," she said. Enditem
