Singapore stocks close 0.71 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 20.26 points, or 0.71 percent, to close at 2,861.18.

A total of 921.5 million shares changed hands with turnover of 1.06 billion Singapore dollars (751.8 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 226 to 164, while 536 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 25.40 points, or 0.90 percent, to close at 2,840.92 on Wednesday. Enditem
