First coordination meeting on power transfer held in Myanmar

A first coordination meeting on systematic power transfer, headed by chairperson of the election-winning National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi, was held in Nay Pyi Taw Wednesday, a senior official of the NLD told Xinhua.

The meeting discussed matters related to continued implementation of power transfer preparatory work with good aim, setting more regular meetings to be held three or four times a week, said NLD central executive committee member U Win Htein.

Wednesday's meeting also touched upon details about the smooth power transfer undertakings to be implemented cooperatively, said also Information Minister U Ye Htut in his facebook.

Attending the meeting were Presidential Spokesman U Ye Htut, Deputy Director-General of Construction Ministry U Maung Maung Ohn and Director of the President's Office U Zaw Htay representing the government side, while the NLD side was represented by U Win Htein, Dr. Myo Aung, Yangon University Rector (retired) Dr. Aung Thu.

After NLD won an absolute majority of the parliamentary seats in the Nov.8 general election, government leadership, the military and the parliament respectively voice support of NLD for smooth power transfer. Endit
