Former Thai leader Yingluck Shinawatra denied Japan tour

Former Thai premier Yingluck Shinawatra has been denied departure from Thailand by the supreme court, said a close aide to the ex-leader on Wednesday.
Yingluck had earlier requested temporary exit from the country in a planned trip to Japan from Tuesday until Dec. 25 as she purportedly intended to take her son, Supasek Amornchat, on a winter vacation there but the supreme court in charge of lawsuits against politicians has denied permission.
No reason was given for the court's decision to turn down Yingluck's request, according to her close aide who only spoke on condition of anonymity.
The former lady leader is currently being faced with duty negligence charges involving the alleged corruption over a rice subsidy program implemented by her Pheu Thai (for Thais)-led government which was deposed in last year's coup.
Like all other national-level politicians, Yingluck has been prohibited from leaving the country without prior permission from the supreme court.
She had been earlier impeached by the National Legislative Assembly, resulting in her being banned from politics for a five-year time. Endit
