A cargo train will start operating in 2016 between central China's Henan Province and Luxembourg, Zhengzhou International Hub Development and Construction Company said on Tuesday.
According to the plans, the train will exit China at Alataw Pass in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region before passing through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Austria and Germany on its way to Luxembourg.
Together with two other cargo trains that link China and Russia by way of Kazakhstan and Mongolia, respectively, the new railway line functions to cover more observer and dialogue partner states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The company said the train line will boost cross-border e-commerce and transport Henan's textiles, mechanical equipment and electronic devices to SCO member states, returning with agricultural products, health food and medicine produced in those countries.
The SCO currently has six member states -- China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, with Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan as observers, and Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka as dialogue partners. Endi
