Government shelling kills 28 east of Damascus

Xinhua, December 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Syrian shelling on rebel-held areas east of the capital Damascus killed 28 people on Sunday, a monitor group reported.

The shelling targeted areas in the eastern countryside of Damascus, mainly the rebel stronghold of Douma, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The government shelling came against the backdrop of the intensified rebel mortar shelling against several districts of the capital on Sunday.

State news agency SANA said two people were killed and tens of others wounded, including children, by the escalated mortar shelling over the weekend. Endit
