China hails Turkmenistan's contribution to world security, peace

Xinhua, December 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Saturday praised Turkmenistan's contribution to regional and international security and peace.

Li made the remarks as he delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of an international meeting under the theme of "Neutrality policy: peace, security and the development of international cooperation."

As the Central Asian country is celebrating the 20th anniversary of adopting the status of permanent neutrality, Li, on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping, firstly extended greetings and congratulations to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkmen people.

In the past two decades, the policy of neutrality has helped Turkmenistan establish friendly cooperation relations with all countries in the world, Li said.

Turkmenistan is dedicated to creating dialogue platform for different countries, nationalities and political factions, and urging resolution of conflicts and disputes through peaceful means, Li said.

Its approach made important contribution to the peace and stability of the region and the world, Li said, citing the proposal made by the Turkmen president under the framework of UN to protect reliable and stable energy transportation as an example.

"The neutrality policy has become the name card of Turkmenistan, a symbol for Turkmen people who always endorse peace, freedom and independence," he said.

China will continue to steadfastly support Turkmenistan's status of permanent neutrality, to strengthen friendly and mutual beneficial cooperation, said Li.

Noting the rampancy of terrorists, extremists and transnational criminals, he called on international community to support China's proposal raised by President Xi on construction of a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation and a community of common destiny for mankind.

Li reaffirmed China's adherence to peaceful development and the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, security cooperation and dialogue, as well as common development based on creativeness, sustainability and openness.

According to him, China is willing to work with all the countries to strive to establish a fairer and more reasonable international order, maintain stability of the international community, and share the opportunity of mutual beneficial development through construction of the Belt and Road. Endi
