(Sports) Pakistan junior girls' team leaves for Asian netball championship

Pakistan junior girls team on Saturday left for Hong Kong to feature in the upcoming 9th Asian Netball Championship starting on Monday, officials said.

President of the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF), Mudaessar Arain, said that the team will take part in the event to be held in Hong Kong from Dec. 14 to Dec. 20.

Captain Anum Salam along with Vice-captain Kashia Asif will lead the 10-member team in the event. Shazia Yousaf will be the coach and Muhammad Rizwan will officiate as manager.

A total of 12 teams, including Singapore, Sri Lanka, Maldives, India, Pakistan, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Abu Dubai, Malaysia, Brunei and Hong Kong, will take part in the mega event.

The Singapore team is the defending champion.

The Pakistan team will play its first match against the host Hong Kong on Dec. 14, followed by second game against Thailand on Dec. 16.

Arain expressed the hope that the team would bring positive results as it was fully prepared for the event. Enditem
