Spain's housing sales rise 2.7 pct in Oct.

Spanish housing sales rose by 2.7 percent in October compared with the same month a year earlier, according to data published Friday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The INE reported that a total of 27,294 operations were registered in October, the lowest figure since April. Spanish housing sales have been rising for 14 consecutive months on a year-on-year basis, the INE said.

Sales of non-subsidized houses rose by 3 percent to 24,752 in October on a year-on-year basis and sales of subsidized houses decreased 0.6 percent to 2,542 purchases.

Meanwhile, sales of new houses fell by 33.8 percent to 5,357 purchases and sales of second-hand houses rose by 18.6 percent to 21,937 purchases. Endit
