Tokyo stocks advance in early trading, shares buoyed by Wall St. gains

Tokyo stocks advanced in early trading on Friday as gains made overnight on Wall Street spurred investors into buying back issues oversold recently.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 90.41 points, or 0.47 percent, from Thursday to 19,136.96, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 3.76 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,544.11.

Early gainers comprised pharmaceuticals, precision instruments and retail-linked shares. Endit
