Vietnam to focus on developing key border-gate economic zones

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has recently approved the development of nine key border-gate economic zones (EZs) in 2016-2020 period with state expenditure, according to the website of Vietnamese government on Thursday.
The EZs include those in northern Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Cao Bang provinces bordering China, central Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Tay Ninh and An Giang provinces bordering Laos and Cambodia.
The prime minister asked for a priority of investment capital allocation of at least 70 percent of the country's total EZ development budget in annual and 2016-2020 plans.
The provincial people's committees were required to focus investment on developing the selected EZs, utilize allocated budget effectively as regulated and ensure the disbursement and construction schedule.
They were also asked to allocate their local budget and mobilize other legal capital sources to invest in the EZs'infrastructure and report arising issues promptly to the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the prime minister.
Earlier, the prime minister also agreed on the state budget allocation to the development of eight key coastal EZs in the 2016-2020 period. Endit
