Most Palestinians killed in tension with Israel 'executed:' report

Xinhua, December 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Most of the Palestinians killed in the ongoing wave of tension with Israel were "executed" by Israeli authorities, an official Palestinian report said Wednesday.

A total of 117 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the violence broke out in October, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The report, issued by the Detainees and ex-Detainees Affairs Committee in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), said 85 percent of these deaths were executions.

"The rest have been killed in clashes with Israeli forces," the report, published on the 67th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, added.

It accused the Israeli army of "intentionally killing Palestinians on mere suspicion, acting as judge and executioner at the same time."

The report added that a large number of those killed were left bleeding to death as they were denied treatment or aid.

This proves "the official Israeli directives to kill the Palestinians," it said.

"Israeli politicians' call for killing Palestinians instead of arresting them is a war crime... and a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights," the report said.

It also accused the Israeli government of inaction in launching criminal investigations into allegations that Israeli soldiers and officers kill Palestinians on purpose.

The report said incidence of torture of Palestinian detainees, including minors, has increased 100 percent.

The Israeli army has arrested more than 2,500 Palestinians since October, including 1,200 minors, in the "largest detention campaign against Palestinians for years," the report said. Endit
