36 injured in Sri Lankan road accident

At least 36 people, including 15 army soldiers, were injured when two passengers buses collided in Katukurunda in southern Sri Lanka on Wednesday, the police said.

Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunesekara told Xinhua that one of the buses travelling from Aluthgama in the south to capital Colombo stopped at a bus terminal when another bus travelling from Central Sri Lanka had collided with it.

The injured included three women, Gunesekara said.

All those injured, including the 15 army soldiers, had been rushed to the Nagoda Hospital for treatment by residents in the area.

Police are conducting further investigations. Endit
