Austrian pilot killed in small plane crash north Ljubljana

Xinhua, December 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Slovenian police announced an Austrian pilot was killed as a four-seater aircraft crashed into a wooded area north of Ljubljana on Thursday.

The pilot was alone on board as the Piper Arrow, on route from Ljubljana to Vienna, plunged in the area around Menges, north of Slovenia's capital, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported Friday quoting Ljubljana police.

The plane entered Menges Thursday evening when the pilot told air traffic control he had problems, before plummeting towards a location called Pristava.

Slovenian police and firefighters were sent to the scene and found plane debris scattered in a 100 meter radius and later the body.

Police were joined by aircraft accident experts Friday as they continued investigations. Endit
