France's Hollande to visit aircraft carrier off Syria: Elysee

French President Francois Hollande is to visit military officers on Friday on the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier off the Syrian coast, his office announced.

"He will meet the military involved in intensifying the battle against Daesh (Islamic State) in Syria and Iraq," the Elysee said in a statement.

Last month, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, Hollande sent France's only aircraft carrier to the eastern Mediterranean to boost its military operation against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. Endit
