China's first electricity-powered aircraft gets production approval

Xinhua, December 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's first domestically developed electricity-powered aircraft has been approved for production by civil aviation authorities.

The two-seat RX1E aircraft can fly for 45-60 minutes with a maximum speed of 120 km per hour after an hour and a half of charging, according to its developer, the Liaoning General Aviation Research Academy in northeast China.

The environmentally friendly model has strong market potential, especially in pilot training and tourism. There has been 28 orders for the aircraft, according to the academy. Endi
