Cooperation accords between China and Venezuela can help strengthen the South American country's industrial and technological progress, President Nicolas Maduro said Wednesday.
"We are seeking economic, productive and technological independence ... through China's experience and our important partnership," Maduro said at the inauguration of Yutong bus manufacturing plant in the western state of Yaracuy.
"The most modern bus plant ever built in Latin America" has the capacity to produce three buses a day, said Maduro, conveying his greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping via the Chinese delegation attending the opening of the facility.
Transport Minister Haiman El Troudi said the plant "forms the essential foundation" of a government program to renovate the country's public transit fleet.
In the beginning of 2015, Venezuela and China signed a series of cooperation agreements in sectors of energy, infrastructure and transportation. Endi
