Tokyo shares inch down by break on U.S. losses

Tokyo shares ended the morning session of the trading Thursday slightly lower, tracing weak performances in the overnight U.S. market, while the downturn was held by sentiment awaiting European Central Bank's policy meeting later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 43.29 points, or 0.22 percent, from Wednesday to 19,894.84.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.43 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,598.83. Enditem
