Menezes: Shandong Luneng offer "out of this world"

Xinhua, December 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Brazil coach Mano Menezes said that Shandong Luneng has made him an offer that is too good to refuse as he all but confirmed his move to the Chinese Super League club on Wednesday.

Menezes, who is currently coach of Brazilian Serie A club Cruzeiro, is expected to officially accept the position within days.

"There are still some important details to finalize," Menezes told a press conference in Belo Horizonte.

"[Talks] are going well and I don't want to lie, but there is no deal yet. When that happens the club will confirm it. It's not a done deal but it's well on the way. It's an offer that is out of this world. From a financial point of view there is no way to turn it down."

Menezes will replace his countryman Cuca, who has coached Shandong Luneng since 2014.

The 53-year-old, who is tied to Cruzeiro until the end of 2017, reportedly has a buyout clause in his contract of two million US dollars.

According to ESPN Brasil, the Brazilian club wants Shandong Luneng to pay the full amount in cash.

Menezes, who coached Brazil 33 times from 2010 to 2012, replaced former Real Madrid and Brazil coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo as Cruzeiro boss in September.  Endi
