British FTSE 100 increases 0.40 pct on Wednesday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday increased by 0.40 percent, or 25.28 points, to 6,420.93 points.

Share price of Shire increased by 2.57 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Merlin Entertainments, GlaxoSmithKline, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA and Unilever increased by 2.29 percent, 2.15 percent, 1.73 percent and 1.73 percent respectively.

Meggitt led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.31 percent, followed by Standard Chartered (2.71 percent), Anglo American (2.25 percent), Rio Tinto (1.15 percent) and Aberdeen Asset Management (1.08 percent). Endit
