Sri Lankan Airlines suspends flights to Chennai due to flooding

Xinhua, December 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sri Lanka's national air carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines, suspended its flights to Chennai in southern India on Wednesday due to flooding in and around the Chennai Airport, local media reports said.

All fights to and from capital Colombo to Chennai, including three Sri Lankan Airline flights, had been suspended as the runway at the Chennai Airport had been under water.

Reports said that around 4,000 people were stranded at the airport with continuous heavy rains since Monday into early Wednesday.

Airlines made announcements on Wednesday to inform passengers that flights into and from Chennai continued to be cancelled. Endit
