Malta receives 199,937 visitors in Oct.

A total of 199,937 inbound visitors including cruise passengers visited Malta in October, marking an increase of 10.7 percent compared to a year earlier, Malta's National Statistics Office said Tuesday.

Inbound tourists from EU member states went up by 10.6 percent to 166,770 compared to last year. Most inbound tourists were aged between 45 and 64, followed by those between 25 and 44.

Total tourist expenditure was estimated at 182.1 million euros (193.2 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 13.9 percent over the corresponding month of 2014.

A total of 3,245 passengers stayed overnight on board their berthed cruise ship.

The number of inbound tourists from January to October reached 1.6 million, an increase of 5.6 percent over the same period in 2014. Endit
