UNRWA collects winter donations for Palestinian refugees

Xinhua, December 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The United Nations for Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) announced on Tuesday that it has launched a campaign to collect winter donations for Palestinian refugees.

An UNRWA press statement said "the campaign, which was named 'share us your warmth,' aims at backing its efforts to collect winter donations for Palestinian refugees in Syria, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Jordan."

The campaign, which was launched on Tuesday, will go on until March 2016, and aims at improving the miserable living condition of the Palestinian refugees who are facing the dangers of the coming winter, according to the statement.

UNRWA is trying its best to collect two million U.S. dollars to aid Palestinian refugees, especially families who lost their homes or became homeless due to the recent wars and conflicts.

Meanwhile, UNRWA commissioner General Pierre Krähenbühl said in a press statement the Palestinian refugees "are lacking hope and many of them don't have appropriate homes," adding that "they struggle to get the minimum needs of food."

"This fact has become unbearable as they (refugees) are preparing themselves for a tough winter," said Krähenbühl, who called on the international community to show more solidarity with the Palestinian refugees. Endit
