Xinhua, December 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Afghan security forces have killed two Taliban militants including a shadowy district governor in northern Saripul province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The security forces targeted Taliban hideouts in Damarda village of Sangcharak district late Monday night, killing two insurgents including Mawlawi Baz Mohammad, the shadowy district governor of Taliban outfit in Sangcharak district, it said.

Mawlawi Baz Mohammad had a key role in organizing anti-government activities and his physical elimination would deal a major blow to the armed Taliban fighters in Saripul and adjoining Jauzjan province, according to the statement.

Taliban militants haven't made any comments. Enditem
