Indonesia records 0.21 pct inflation in November

Xinhua, December 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indonesia's inflation rate stood at 0.21 percent in November this year, a senior official said here on Tuesday.

Sasmito Hadi Wibowo, deputy head of distribution and statistics at the Central Statistics Bureau (BPS), added that the calendar year inflation rate, from January to November, recorded 2.37 percent, while year-on-year (yoy) inflation stood at 4.89 percent.

"From those figures, it was learned that the inflation in November was the lowest in the last five years and yoy inflation was the lowest throughout 2015," Sasmito told a press conference.

He said that increasing prices of several commodities, including rice, bred chicken, filtered cigarettes, bred chicken eggs and peas, contributed to the inflation.

Meanwhile the decreasing prices of several other items apparently restrained the inflation from further growth. Among those items were gold jewelry, fresh fish, cooking oil and non-subsidized fuel of Pertamax, Sasmito noted.

The BPS also learned that core inflation throughout last month stood at 0.16 percent with the year-on-year figure stood at 4.77 percent, the lowest this year.

"The core inflation has long been perched at around 5 percent. Now it has decreased, giving ample room for the monetary authority to anticipate its monetary policy," he said. Endit
